meeting |
|
All first-year
students will be invited to an informational meeting in April 2007
-- that will include , hosted by the O'Brien
Center for Scholarly Publications and featuring current journals
editors and members who will be available to answer your
questions. |

Information |
| The writing
competition is open to all first-year students who have
successfully completed the Moot Court and Legal Writing and
Research requirements. (Legal Analysis may be used to satisfy the
Moot Court requirement.) The journals have two other prerequisites
for membership: the writing competition and the minimum 2.20 GPA
mandated by academic regulations. |

| The
writing competition is conducted on an anonymous basis. Applicants
must first obtain a writing competition number to participate in
the writing competition. The numbers will be distributed at the
informational meeting and will be available at the Records office
thereafter. |
| The
Inter-Journal Writing Competition annually begins on the day after
the last scheduled final exams. students have 12 days to complete
an assignment designed to take 4 or 5 days to complete. 1Ls may pick up the Inter-Journal Writing Competition
Packet at the Scholarly Publications office, 100 McAllister
Street, room 2304 or download it from the Scholarly Publications
website. |
| In
completing the assignment, no
outside research is necessary or permitted; all the information
required to complete the assignment will be provided in the
writing competition packet. You may use the same writing entry to
apply to all of the journals; however, you can participate only on
one journal. |
| The
deadline is a postmark-deadline -- meanin that if the mailing is
postmarked on or before the deadline your entry is valid. Many
entrants hand-deliver their entries to the
Scholarly Publications office, 100 McAllister Street, Room 2303, before 5 p.m. on
the deadline day. The specific dates and deadlines for the 2007
competition will be announced in the spring 2007. |
